Twenty years later, with a guitar in my hands

The twilight of the first era, a twenty-year gap, and composing again with a guitar in my hands.

The first era didn't end with a bang. It ended with one composition that I never finished. It doesn't have a name yet, I didn't name it. It's still a good composition, but I got stuck at the middle, and I think it was one of the last compositions in my first compositional era. It was basically the twilight of that era, when I started losing interest, because I saw that I can't really... I already had too much music, and I couldn't get it anywhere, so it's just MIDI and that's all. So I started losing interest, and I got it to the middle of that composition. It was quite good, actually. Nice solos. I was getting pretty advanced with the soloing, started using modulations and triplets, stuff like that. It was very hard, and I think I just dropped it at that point, and it was the end of that first era.

Not to mention that there was a 20-year gap between them. In that gap, I couldn't compose anything, actually. I tried to get back to it using the same way with Guitar Pro, but I felt like I was a different person. I couldn't compose anymore. It felt like my mojo just disappeared.

It's really hard to tell, but after maybe 10 years, when I tried to compose something again with Guitar Pro, I just felt depleted. There was no ideas. I could just only do complete garbage. So I really don't know why. Why 10 years before that, I could compose music. I could compose almost half a song while waiting for my friend to return from the shop. And then I had this complete barrenness, lack of any ideas. It felt strange, disturbing, like I was switched to someone else.

And what happens then? I try composing with guitar in my hands this time. With guitar, yeah, I changed. I changed the way I was making music. And I actually had some very successful, in my opinion, compositions. The song that came out first was the one I used the Django Unchained video for (Iron & Dust). This type of music was very different. You can hear it, actually. There is another one coming soon, and I think Weird Romance as well. They are completely different style, you can tell. And it was a very different experience for me.

Cool Girl, I think I combined both ways, using guitar in my hands and also just Guitar Pro. And I consider it one of the best compositions that I have.

So I think what I realised, it's very important, the way, the approach. To find the right approach that kind of works for you. And this is my recent realisation.
